COOL-LITE® SKN

COOL-LITE® SKN – Highly selective solar control coated glass

COOL-LITE® SKN is a range of highly selective, double silver coated flat glass that provides solar control combined with thermal insulation. This range of higher performance1 glass prioritises comfort and energy efficiency, as it can help reduce overheating in hot, sunny weather by limiting how much solar heat is transmitted through the glass, whilst providing thermal insulation in colder weather.

Selectivity is the ratio between light transmission and solar heat gain. The higher the selectivity ratio, the better the glass performs when it comes to energy efficiency; important in high-rise and large glazed areas, where both natural light and solar control are crucial for energy efficiency and comfort.

COOL-LITE® products can be used in a variety of glazing applications in commercial and residential buildings, where larger glazing is required to offer high levels of natural light transmittance with a lower solar factor (compared to uncoated flat glass).

From aesthetics to interior design, noise levels and natural light, various factors can contribute to the overall feeling of comfort and well-being within a building. This is why a thoughtfully constructed space can help elevate our mood, productivity and health.

COOL-LITE® SKN is a range of coatings that can be used in various configurations to meet different glazing design specifications.  It is applied to Saint-Gobain’s PLANICLEAR® float glass as standard and can be applied to ORAE® lower carbon glass or DIAMANT® lower iron glass if required (when compared with PLANICLEAR®).

When a coated flat glass is used in combination with Saint-Gobain’s STADIP® laminated flat glass, it can provide noise reduction along with added safety and security, dependent on the thickness of the glass and interlayer used within the laminated pane.

  1. Higher performance, coated, flat glass, achieves an emissivity level of 3% or less. Saint-Gobain Glass’ PLANITHERM® and COOL-LITE® products are higher performing than uncoated, flat glass substrates, based on emissivity level.
