4.8mm STADIP® PLUS

4.8mm STADIP® PLUS

4.8mm STADIP® PLUS laminated glass combines the P2A2 safety and security performance of other products in the STADIP® range with a thinner1, lighter1 construction. Suitable for both double-glazed units and triple-glazed units, it is available in coated variants, including PLANITHERM® NEO, to suit a range of specifications.

The reduced weight1 of 4.8mm STADIP® PLUS can make processing, handling, transportation and installation more straightforward when compared with heavier equivalent products1. It can also help to reduce loads on window systems, hinges and locking mechanisms, and can enable larger insulated glazing unit cavity sizes for improved U-values in specific configurations5.

4.8mm STADIP® PLUS can also help to optimise glazing configurations and deliver higher light transmission than thicker laminated alternatives in some configurations3. In a typical 4/16/4.8 double-glazed unit configuration, it achieves a 2–3 dB acoustic improvement when compared with 4/16/4 monolithic glass4.

Made using PLANICLEAR®, lower-carbon clear float glass as standard, 4.8mm STADIP® PLUS benefits from a substrate whose third-party verified EPD6, published in June 2026, shows a carbon reduction of more than 34% compared with the previous PLANICLEAR® EPD. PLANICLEAR® now achieves 7.22 kg CO₂e/m² for 4 mm glass across Global Warming Potential categories A1–A36. This flat glass substrate is manufactured as standard by Saint-Gobain Glass UK & Ireland.

Benefits of 4.8mm STADIP® PLUS

BENEFITS

  • Achieves P2A2 safety and security standard
  • Available in coated variants, including PLANITHERM® NEO, to suit a range of specifications
  • Suitable for both double-glazed units (DGUs) and triple-glazed units (TGUs)
  • Supports the achievement of lower U-values5 in specific configurations

REDUCED WEIGHT1

  • The reduced weight1 can make processing, handling, transportation and installation more straightforward when compared to heavier equivalent products
  • Can help to reduce load on window systems, hinges and locking mechanisms
  • Can enable larger insulated glazing unit (IGU) cavity sizes for improved U-values in specific configurations5

LIGHT TRANSMISSION

  • Delivers higher light transmission than thicker laminated alternatives in some configurations3

ACOUSTIC PERFORMANCE

  • Achieves a 2–3dB acoustic improvement in a typical 4/16/4.8 DGU configuration, when compared with 4/16/4 monolithic glass4. For more information, visit Calumen.com

ENVIRONMENTAL CREDENTIALS

  • Made using PLANICLEAR®, lower-carbon flat glass as standard. PLANICLEAR® is now a lower-carbon, clear float glass, based on the product’s new, third-party verified EPD6 (published June 2026). The new declaration shows a carbon reduction of more than 34% compared with the previous PLANICLEAR® EPD. PLANICLEAR® now achieves 7.22kg CO2e/m2 for 4mm glass (Global Warming Potential categories A1-A3). This flat glass substrate is manufactured as standard by Saint-Gobain Glass UK & Ireland.
  • Manufactured in the UK, which can help support supply chain security and product availability.
  • Using 1 tonne of cullet in the manufacture of new float glass prevents the use of 1.2 tonnes of virgin raw materials and 700kg of CO2 emissions (scopes 1, 2 & 3)7.

  8. In a standard double-glazed unit (DGU) there are four potential surfaces to which coatings can be applied: surface 1 faces outdoors, surface 2 and surface 3 face each other inside the DGU, separated by a peripheral spacer which creates an insulating air space, and surface 4 faces directly indoors.

The Saint-Gobain recommendation is to always toughen the centre-pane of a triple-glazed unit when using silica glass. Performance data calculated using Calumen.com and is correct at the time of publishing (21.10.2026) but is subject to change at any time.
